Dr. Mere Sovick leads two influential organizations dedicated to advancing the interests of Pacific and Indigenous peoples. She is both the Founder and Executive Director of Melanesian Women Today (MWT) and the Executive Director of Pacific Peoples’ Partnership (PPP), Canada's only non-profit focused on partnership with South Pacific Islanders and Indigenous Peoples.

A daughter of Pentecost Island, Vanuatu, Mere's journey from Lavatu village to becoming the first ni-Vanuatu woman to earn a doctorate in the United States is a testament to her determination. She channels this lived experience into her work, ensuring that the voices of Melanesian women are heard from the local level to the international stage.

Through her leadership, podcast (Coming to the Mat), and writing, she fosters a powerful network of support, mentorship, and advocacy. Dr. Sovick’s unique ability to bridge cultures and communities is driven by a single goal: to create tangible, lasting change for women and girls across the Melanesian region.
